2017 Disney Doll Rumors

Disney's latest live action adaptation, Beauty and the Beast, is schedule to hit theaters on March 17th. Merchandise has been appearing in all stores and many clips have been released online. Rumors of 17 inch dolls have been circulating for some time but have yet to produce any photo proof mere weeks before the film is released. Not all Live Action films have had 17 inch dolls made, Maleficent being the most notable. Other movies such as Cinderella and Alice Through the Looking Glass have had a few. With Disney's 17 inch dolls showing no sign of slowing down, and Beauty and the Beast set to be a big release, a few dolls are almost all but confirmed.

The Beast And Gaston 17" Dolls Revealed


The next two dolls in the Beauty and the Beast Heirloom Collection have been revealed today. As it was heavily speculated with Belle in her "Something There" dress, The Beast is in his matching outfit. Gaston is wearing his fancy attire in which he tried to propose to Belle. The bigger surprise is that ALL three dolls will be available for pre-order at the same time.

New Belle 17 Inch Doll Revealed


The highly anticipate second edition of Belle to the Heirloom Collection has been revealed today. It was speculated that Belle would not be rereleased in her gold dress, making her pink dress seem to be the second best choice. It looks like that will be the version to be released this coming fall. Bell is in a variation of her pink winter outfit from the "Something There" musical number in the movie. This might also lead to assumptions that The Beast will be in his matching outfit. Take a closer look...

Disney 17 Inch Doll News And Rumors

Disney's 17 inch doll collection has been growing ever since releasing the first Princess, Snow White, in 2009. The collection is about to have a few new additions, and this time it will be a re-release of a Princess who already had a doll some years back. Beauty and the Beast will celebrate its 25th Anniversary this year, and with the live action version of the film being released in 2017, there's about to be a lot more merchandise on the way over the next year. Strong rumor suggests that not only will Belle receive a new 17 inch Heirloom Collection doll, but Beast and Gaston will be added as well.

Custom Jessica Rabbit 17 Inch Doll

Disney started a series of 17 inch dolls in 2009 appropriately with Snow White. If you pre-ordered the Diamond Edition DVD you would receive the movie, the doll and a lithograph set for $99. As times passed the dolls were sold on their own and prices rose, but the Princes and Villains were also added into this larger scale series, all complete with Certificate of Authenticity and display box. Since there hasn't been many characters made beyond the Princesses, let's look at one fantastic creation of a custom Jessica Rabbit 17 Inch doll.

Alice Through The Looking Glass 17 Inch Dolls Revealed

The latest 17 inch Heirloom Collection dolls were revealed and for the second time they focus on a Disney Live Action film. Alice Through the Looking Glass will be released in theaters May 27, 2016 and some of the characters have been recreated into the popular line of Disney 17 inch dolls. Mandarin Outfit Alice, Iracebeth the Red Queen, and Hatter Adventure Hero and Ribbon Fantasy Alice are part of the upcoming releases.

UPDATE 2: The doll release has been changed again. They will be sold in stores Monday May 30th, and will be sold online Tuesday the 31st.

Disney Platinum Dolls, Limited Edition Dolls, And More

Last week was a busy flurry of activity with the release of many Limited Edition dolls, including a new set of 17 inch dolls that have been dubbed "The Platinum Collection." The Aladdin and Jasmine Wedding Set started as a rumor months ago and was not officially advertised. It was a true surprise release with the other 17 inch Aladdin dolls and was extremely limited, not to mention extremely expensive. What does this mean for future sets and collecting? Jasmine 17 Inch Doll Revealed

The new 17 Inch Limited Edition Heirloom Collection doll has be revealed, and as speculated it is Princess Jasmine from Aladdin. Her dress is altered from the one she wears in the movie, which is customary with most of the 17 Inch dolls in the line. Disney's own description:
"The beautifully-designed doll captures Princess Jasmine's exotic elegance in every exquisite detail."

Pre-sale for the doll has two different dates. It starts In Stores on Tuesday, August 4th and then on the Disney Store website Wednesday August 5th. They will retail for $119.95 in the US. The strong rumor around the internet is that there will be an Aladdin doll, and also a D23 Exclusive version of Jasmine as Jafar's Prisoner in her red outfit. There was speculation of a Jafar doll because there have been villains, but they have been female villains in the past, so its unsure if he will be released.

Maleficent 17 Inch Doll Revealed

The highly anticipated Sleeping Beauty 17 Inch Heirloom Collection has been revealed - offering one surprise doll. While it was expected Maleficent would be offered in the series, there was still debate if Prince Phillip would be offered. This speculation came after seeing the first male 17 inch doll made last year with Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. Prince Phillip will be part of the series - as well as Aurora in a blue version of her dress.

Sleeping Beauty 17 Inch Doll Revealed

The Disney Store Facebook page has revealed the first image of the Sleeping Beauty Limited Edition Aurora doll. They also released a "behind the scenes" image on their Instagram. The doll will be available to pre-order in select stores starting on Monday, July 28th and also online on Tuesday, July 29th. It will be a Limited Edition of 5,000 and should sell for $119. Rumor has it that a Maleficent doll is on the way, and people are optimistic for Prince Phillip after the first male 17" doll, Prince Eric, was release with The Little Mermaid.

Ariel 17 Inch Doll Surfaces

Disney's other famous redhead has come up from the sea for a very special reason. The 17 inch Heirloom Collection continues at long last with it's latest addition from The Little Mermaid, Ariel. She's a fully poseable 17 inch doll with an embellished tail, flowing red hair and shell jewelry. While it's stated that the doll does have a poseable tail, it does not say if she has legs like all the usual Ariel dolls do. She was made available for preorder by the Disney Store website and locations, but won't be released until October 1st when the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray comes out. She is a Limited Edition of 6000, which is raised from the usual edition size, and sells for $99.95. People who have seen the doll in person on display in Disney Stores are already praising the doll on its unique look. It's also been rumored that the surprise release doll will be Ursula, however, due to the nature of the dolls and their customary boxes, there is no word on if the doll with be Ursula in her usual form, a slimmed down version, or her transformed into Vanessa. The Ursula doll won't be released until October 1st. Disney has taken a slight departure from this 17 inch line, with Ariel so far being the only doll available this year. Previous years had seen a few dolls released during the summer months. The 17 inch Ariel doll is an excellent likeness with fantastic details - making all of us here wanting Disney to make Jessica even more!

(UPDATE - it appears the doll may be sold out. This was released on Monday July 29th, and that would be quite fast for them to all be spoken for, but Ariel has proven to be a very popular character, so this doll may in fact already be sold out. There was also a big reveal of the 17 inch Ursula and Prince Eric dolls.)
