Disney Descendants On The Disney Channel

The new Disney Channel movie, Disney Descendants, has had some major reveals lately. Kristin Chenoweth plays the mistress of all evil, Maleficent. Kathy Najimy is the living incarnation of the Evil Queen. While this might not seem like an accurate casting decision, this new take on the Disney Villains and Heroes will focus more on their children. However, their choice for a tagline is quite interesting...

Art By Miss Mindy

When wonder and wishes and whimsy collided, the world created Miss Mindy. Now, Miss Mindy is creating wondrous works of her own featuring some of Disney's most memorable characters. Snow White, Evil Queen and Ariel have been fantastically recreated as a Miss Mindy signature sculpture, with ornate miniature details and lights. Nestled inside each is a tiny scene from the movie - Snow white has the Seven Dwarfs cottage, Evil Queen has the Magic Mirror, and Ariel has Ursula. There have also been other characters like Bo Peep and Minnie Mouse.

As if her talents didn't speak for themselves, take a look at this hand-crafted, artfully engineered Wonderland Chess Set, a combined effort by Miss Mindy and Ahab's Shipyard which debuted at D23 2013. It is a one-of-a-kind piece using elements of both Lewis Caroll and Disney's version of Alice in Wonderland. If you look closely, there are 32 highly detailed and customized 3 inch and Jr. Vinylmation figures by Mindy. Using the Vinylmation figure as the base, each one is hand pained and redecorated to fit the topsy-turvy theme of Wonderland.

The board, by Ahab's Shipyard, combines pine and bass woods with resin, stone and synthetic turf. I suppose if you're going to play Wonderland Chess, you should expect no less than the level of this creation.

Starting October 4, 2013, Miss Mindy will be the Artist in Residence at WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disneyland District on October 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30p.m. each day. She has created several new 3 inch Vinylmation figures titled 13 Little Haunts, all of them hand painted and embellished with sculpture and glow-in-the-dark paint. Each is a one-of-a-kind figure and will sell for $250.00. As an especially haunting surprise, there is only one number “13” design, up for grabs to the first moral who gets their hands on it!

Could a Jessica Rabbit statue ever be possible? Well, Mindy is naturally drawn to redheads, and has stated that Jessica could make an excellent addition to the series.

Couture de Force Collection Unveiled

Over at Enesco, they have unveiled the new Couture de Force Collection, recapturing some of Disney's most memorable Princesses and Villains. Here's what their site has to say about this amazing new series:

Disney Couture de Force is a stunning collection inspired by Disney's reigning princesses and vampy villains embellished in haute couture. No detail is overlooked from faux jewels to opalescent paints bring each sculpture to life.

Each statue is $65 and the line will be available starting in July. While their description of the series states the collection is inspired by princesses and villains - this would be a PERFECT fit for Jessica Rabbit should the series be popular enough. Let's hope so - but in the meantime, take a look at some of the stunning pieces coming this summer!

Disney Villains Designer Collection - dollMAGEDDON Part 2

The sky - she darkens. The wind grows angry

The end is nigh

Either that or it's just dollMAGEDDON - PART 2 !

Okay, so we didn't get Jessica Rabbit this year - but, I was at least right that Disney was not going to pass up the opportunity for another go at the Designer Collection line, even after last years near collapse of their website due to the Princess series released. Take a good, long look at the Cruella doll, and tell me they are not even considering making a Jessica Designer doll.

Pin Release - Disney Confections Jessica

Disneyland and Disney world have released a new set of Mystery Pins - The Disney Confections Collection. Each box will come with two randomly selected pins. The Jessica Rabbit "I'm not bad... I'm just drawn to chocolate" box is included, each box looking like the front of the newer line of Disney candy. All are hinged pins, with a photo of the actual candy on the inside. They will be a limited edition of 400 each, and sell for $19.95 a set at both Disney Parks; released on June 7th. The collection is cute, but the easy use of these images for pins is a bit of a let down. With DisneyStore.com not offering any exclusive pins, this is what the selection is being reduced too as of late.

Jessica Rabbit Custom Mask Available

Towards the end of last year, I came across fantastic artist, Denise of Pirates Quarters, selling custom made Disney inspired masks. I was incredibly impressed with her Maleficent and asked if she could create a Jessica Rabbit mask for me - and she did. After putting up an In The Spotlight article on here back in March about the artist, she has been busily at work on new creations. Namely Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas! This is an amazing mask, and shows the depth of talent Denise possesses. She has also added a Villains Mini Mask Set with The Evil Queen, Maleficent, and Cruella.

Not only that, but Jessica Rabbit is now off the special order list and available in-store with the other masks. Denise also has a colorful array of other characters and unique creations available, so be sure to check out her Etsy page and have a look around. She also takes special orders to create the character YOU want.

In The Spotlight - Custom Masks By Denise

If you are looking for custom work, the internet is full of people creating, drawing, painting, and sculpting. When someone has real talent, you can easily spot it. Denise is a prime example of a treasure that you can find out there. She creates custom decorative masks that are unique and stunningly beautiful. Not only does she create one-of-a-kind creations, but she expertly paints various Disney characters like Maleficent, The Evil Queen... and now Jessica Rabbit!

ImNotBad.com:
What inspired you to start painting?

Denise:
I've been an artist my entire life, as long as I can remember...I began in the arts from watching my Dad , who was also an amazing artist/musician. He would draw and paint and I just knew that it was something I had to do as well. I began drawing, then drawing portraits, creating costumes, practicing with 3d mediums such as makeup & clays, which is now one of the most rewarding facets of my career, special fx makeup...you know, monsters, gore, fantasy, zombies, you name it, I create it...on actual people.
