Pin Release: Disney Racers Mystery Set

There is a new Roger Rabbit pin released in all Disney Parks. The Disney Racers Mystery Set was released this month and consists of 16 pins in total. You buy one pack and each will come with 5 randomly selected pins. The set appears to be an Open Edition and sells for $27.99 per pack.

The pin design is from a real Roger Rabbit Disney Racers toy that was released some time in the early 2000's. There were several characters to be changed over into their own unique race car and there are new ones being made for Star Wars characters. With the larger selection of characters there may be a second series of this pin set in the future.

Pin Release - Jessica August Calendar

The surprise Jessica Rabbit August Calendar pin was released on August 3, 2013 at the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store. A quarter shot of Jessica is on the front of the calendar. The background this time is a light orange glitter fill. Jessica's signature and "2013" are there as usual. The inside of the pin when opened shows Jessica Rabbit ready to take a vacation. Jessica is strutting to the airport and all dressed up in a vintage style dress - wearing a red sun hat, short pink gloves, white top with puffed sleeves, and a pink skirt. She's holding a plane ticket in her right hand and a suitcase in the other which is covered in stickers. There are plane tickets and paper falling around her. The background behind Jessica is a clear teal glitter fill. The bottom half has the month of August printed on, the days of the week, and the full dates for the month - made like an actual calendar, though no special markings this time with no major holidays in August. They sold for $16.95 each and are a Limited Edition of 300.

Pin Preview - Back To School ID Jessica

Just when things seemed to be getting slightly overdone, the Disney Soda Fountain has come up with a cute new pin series which is no doubt influenced by the release of Monsters University. The Back To School ID card series will be released on August 3rd. Each will be a Limited Edition of 400 (which is a higher number than usual) and sell for $14.95 each. The characters in this series are Chicken Little, Sulley, Vanellope von Schweetz and Jessica Rabbit. It appears both the character picture and the crest will be a pin-on-pin element. Jessica's headshot is to the bottom right of the pink ID card. She's looking very studious in her white collared shirt. Above her photo reads "Acme High School." The crest off to the left features Roger's ears, hearts and a blue letter "J." Jessica Rabbit's name is printed in white at the bottom.

Jessica Rabbit Merchandise Review # 8 - Jessica Bathing Suit Pin Set

Back in 2007, the Jessica pins were overflowing. Among them was a Jessica World Travel series, a Halloween Costume series, a Valentine set, and two framed sets. Possibly in an effort to keep costs down, a new kind of set was created called Card Sets. These were a set of pins on a large background card, but they were not framed. The framed sets did not seem to be doing well - and not surprising with releasing two LE 1000 Jessica framed sets so close to each other, both of them eventually went on sale for about 75% off the original price.

Pin Preview - Roses Box Set

At this past weekend's Trade City pin event, there were a lot of future releases previewed - however, there is a very scarce selection of Jessica pins coming (at least that were previewed at the time of the event anyway.)
Below is the upcoming Roses Six Pin Box Set to be released at the Love is Magic event in February. The roses can open, showing a famous Disney couple inside. It will only be available at that event and is an LE 300 set.

You can go to Cody Smith's Trade City photo collection to see more photos from the Trade City event.

Pin Preview - Initial Letter Series

One of the next pin series to come is the Initials Series, featuring a Disney character next to their initial and the rest of their name incorporated into it somewhere. The pre-production art for the Jessica pin though does not show the rest of her name included like the rest of the pins from that series.

Noteworthy Jessica Rabbit Pins

The first ever LE 100 Jessica six pin set was released on Disney Auctions in 2004, selling for $165.00 and the set is highly sought after today.

The very first Jessica Mystery pin was in 2004, given as a free gift when you ordered from Disney online. Limited to 100, this is one of the rarest Jessica pins.

Disney Auction Pins were usually a low edition of 100 and the Jessica pins from that time now sell for a lot of money and getting harder to come by.

The first public pin event to offer a Jessica pin was Mickey's All American Pin Quest - celebrating Disneyland's 48th Birthday. The first private event to offer a Jessica pin was Lights, Camera, Pins.

Disney soon began to have special pin events which required registration and separate admission such as: Chip and Dale's Wild West Pin Adventure, Pin Trading University, Pin Route 498 and The Museum of Pin-tiquities .

The very first pin of Jessica in a Halloween costume is from the 2006 Glow-in-the-dark Spiderweb Collection, released in Disneyland.

The first ever Jessica pin to feature a glitter accented dress was from Disneyland Paris in 2003. The first pin in the US was a one-of-a-kind prototype that sold on the Disney Auctions site for $295 in June of 2003. The first glitter dress pin was finally offered to the public for Easter of 2004.

The first ever Jessica pin series was available in November of 2004 on Disney's Purchase It Now Store (P.I.N.S) which was part of their Auction site.

In June 2006, Jessica Rabbit at the Beach was the first pin series available from Disney Online after their auction site closed.

One of the most famous and interesting series is Jessica Around The World. Unlike a pin set, pins in a series were sold separately. This series proved to be very popular - I wonder why!

Probably the strangest Jessica pin is the 2007 Snowman Likeness pin, sold online Christmas Eve and was part of a LE 100 set with other characters. It sold out the same day of release.

Disney began selling Mystery Sets, you never knew which pin you would get. Jessica was often the character in the lowest edition of 50 out of 1000.

There are frequently Jessica pins released for each Holiday at Disney Parks and on their website.

The biggest Roger Rabbit Cast pin is the Super Jumbo Puzzle Pin available in 2007.

The most important and famous Jessica Rabbit pin is the Limited Edition 100 Movie Star Jumbo from 2006. The pins were auctioned on Disney's site for over $100. Disney reported to customers the pins were "lost," and no one would be charged unless they were found. Disney's Auction site closed and the pins resurfaced two years later on Disney's website without warning and not offered to the original bidders. They sold for $19.95 and were gone within minutes - now they can sometimes be found on eBay for over $200.
