Super7 revealed their first Who Framed Roger Rabbit ReAction Figures over a year ago. This was a surprise to many as it had been nearly 35 years with no action figures of these characters made. There seemed to be a good deal of success with the first wave of 5 figures (Roger, Jessica, Judge Doom and two weasels) which prompted a second offering. Let's take a look...

A Farewell To Toys R Us

It was recently announced that the last big box toy retailer, Toys R Us, will be closing. I think for anyone who grew up between 1970 to 2000, this store was a lot more than some large-scale toy depot. Going to Toys R Us could be much like a visit to Disneyland, it was a special occasion. As kids, we wandered through the cavernous isles filled with everything we could want. Parents spent many hours of their shopping time easily finding what they needed for birthdays, holidays and good report cards. This was before the internet age, when you can look for, find and purchase everything with the click of a button. That's the more preferred method now, and the future generation won't know what they're missing.

Miss Switch Custom Figure By Gary Anderson

In taking a break from the usual Disney related news, I wanted to show a custom figure I had commissioned that is absolutely amazing. In rediscovering some retro cartoons online I stumbled across The Trouble with Miss Switch, an ABC Weekly Special cartoon from 1980 that I had watched often. The cartoons were based on a 1971 children's book of the same name by Barbara Brooks Wallace. The book was fairly popular and when it was translated into cartoons they were re-run frequently due to the high interest. The cartoon specials were produced by Ruby-Spears who made shows like Heathcliff and Dingbat, Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show. I wondered how any popular 80's cartoon would have slipped by without some kind of merchandise - other than the books whose covers were changed to depict versions of the characters from the cartoon. That's when I asked a talented customizer. I had followed his work for many years and asked if he was up for the challenge. The end result is exactly what I had asked for and turned out to be a fantastic custom figure. Read all about the creation of this figure and learn more about the artist living in Ireland who has a love of pop culture and action figures...

A Tribute To Tom Tumbusch And Tomart's Publications

Anyone who has been a toy collector or Disney fan will know Tomart's Magazines very well. When bookstores were prevalent and the internet was still in its early days, you relied heavily on these publications for the latest news on figures, statues, events and where to buy antique toys. The owner of Tomart's Publications, Tom Tumbusch, passed away in July of 2016. He's regarded as a pioneer in Disney History research and for many years his magazines were used as the best sources of information on toys, collections and more. Let's take a small look at the man who brought together legions of Disney fans and collectors alike in a very big way. (Photo by Gary Cruise)

Flashback Friday - The Totally unOfficial Toonography Of Jessica Rabbit Part Five

The Totally unOfficial Toonography of Jessica Rabbit was a big project I embarked on in an effort to preserve the character and tell a lot more of her story through the happenings at the time, and from Disney artist interviews. This six part documentary slideshow reveals some information about Jessica, her creation, merchandise and history.

Part 5: Girl Power
A look at Jessica's creation, her impact on female characters and figure collecting, and the many others who had a hand in making the industry what it is today.
