Who Framed Roger Rabbit 25th Anniversary Blu Ray DVD

The video is not very telling, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit will finally make it to Blu-ray in 2013 for its 25th Anniversary. The only thing mentioned on the commercial, so far, is that the short films have been "digitally restored." Hopefully there will be more news soon. STAY TOONED!

Tummy Trouble

Tummy Trouble was the first of three animated Roger Rabbit shorts, created after the Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie. The cartoons were released as a tie-in to other movies showing before the feature film it accompanied. Tummy Trouble appeared before Honey, I Shrunk the Kids on June 23, 1989, a year after the movie was released. This short was also later on the VHS release of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

Is it time for a Roger Rabbit Blu-Ray DVD

Back in 2003, the Who Framed Roger Rabbit Special Edition DVD was finally released, and offered much more than the original edition released in 1999 (which actually offered NO special features at all!)

UPDATE: Blu Ray Release in 2013

This time around we were offered a ton of special features and also some very cool packaging. The slip cover shows Roger, Eddie, Benny and Jessica. The Toontown sky has is a foil blue background to make it shine. Inside the DVD case is made to look like Eddie's leather notebook.

DVD Overview

What exactly to expect on the new ROGER DVD
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson
(March 4, 2003)

DVD One includes The Roger Rabbit Shorts. These include "Tummy Trouble" (seven minutes, 45 seconds), "Rollercoaster Rabbit" (seven minutes, 50 seconds), and "Trail Mix-Up" (eight minutes, 52 seconds).

Next we get Who Made Roger Rabbit, a new featurette hosted by voice actor Charles Fleischer. During this 10-minute and 57-second program, Fleischer leads us through the film's production and gives us the basics about its creation. Since it seems meant for kids and newbies, it provides a decent little introduction.

DVD One continues with Trouble in Toontown, a new "set-top" game. This involves some simple activities like shooting pies at weasels. It seems bland but mildly enjoyable, though it includes no reward for successful completion.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Vista Series Review

Find out what's included in this fantastic NEW DVD set.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Vista Series Reviewed by John J. Puccio - 03/2003

The first time out Buena Vista provided little beyond the film on their DVD. With this Vista Series special edition spread over two discs, matters change considerably. BV call disc one "Family Friendly," meaning, I suppose, that most families with children will want to watch its full-screen format because it fills up the whole TV screen, plus it includes several cartoon supplements. I'm not convinced of the logic of calling anything resembling pan-and-
scan "family friendly" and find the phrase "family friendly" rather condescending toward children, but it seems to be the mind set of many of the studios these days.
