Coming Soon - Roger Rabbit Funko POP!

 

Funko had a big reveal day recently and showed off a bunch of new figures on the way. These will be available at New York Comic Con in October but also through various other sites - this one in particular scheduled for Funko.com at some point around the convention.

This new Roger Rabbit POP! has Jessica's kisses all over his bashful face. It will be part of the POP! Movies series (the first figure was part of the Disney series).

The set of Jessica, Roger, Judge Doom and Smarty Funko POP! Figures are now available to order through HotTopic.com.

They stand at over 3 inches tall and are on sale for $10 each. They should also be carried in stores.

The Who Framed Roger Rabbit POP! Vinyl Figures were scheduled for release in August, but may not arrive in most stores until September. There are some reports of the figures popping up already.

All four figures from the series are still available to pre-order from Entertainment Earth and various other websites.

The Who Framed Roger Rabbit POP Vinyl Figures have a scheduled release month of August 2014. Their packaging design has been revealed, as well as their assigned numbers - which are Roger # 103, Jessica #104, Judge Doom #105, Smarty Weasel #106.

Roger Rabbit Pop Vinyl Figures Revealed

The POPVinyls.com website nabbed this picture (and a whole lot more) of Funko's catalog of upcoming figures at the NY Toy Fair happening this week. Here for the first time is the Who Framed Roger Rabbit set of four characters - Jessica Rabbit, Smarty Weasel, toon Judge Doom (with squeaky shoe), and Roger Rabbit!

Funko Confirms Roger Rabbit POP! Series

Back in late 2012 when Funko was announcing their Series 5 of Disney Pop! Vinyl figures, people were rooting for Roger and Jessica Rabbit to be added in the line. Unfortunately that didn't happen. However, during Toy Fair 2013, Vinylmation Kingdom conducted an interview with the President of the Funko company himself, Brian Mariotti, where he said he had been trying to get the rights to produce figures of Roger, Jessica and Benny for a while.

Vinylmation Kingdom brings us some more good news when they picked up on a HUGE announcement from the Funko Prez. The statement:

“THINK small groups from here on out with Disney.. so we can release more throughout the year..

For example: 4 new Pop! from Roger Rabbit are coming up next after series 5. Then we have a bunch of smaller groupings that all Disney fans will really love!”

So it is CONFIRMED, Roger and three other toons will be added to the assortment of characters, and released in a new way than the company has done previously. This still leaves a few questions, such as, which other characters will be produced and will we see them in any other series. Funko not only produces their main line of Pop! Vinyl figures, but has created some of the same characters from that series as plush dolls, bookmarks and bobbleheads. So, it will be interesting to see if the characters do make it to other lines. They also release the character figure in other paint options such as metallics, glow in the dark or different colors. Funko recently started a series of Disney Mystery Minis. These egg-head shaped characters come in three different variations in a sealed box, so you don't know which character, or version, you are going to get. This is the kind of line that would be perfect for Roger Rabbit characters as well.

We are pretty much guaranteed Roger will be one of the four square-headded Pop! Vinyl figures to be released. The President of Funko previously mentioned wanting Benny the Cab in the series, so it will be interesting to see if that can even work or if Benny is planned for a different line. Baby Herman is another name people are throwing around, and of course, Jessica! Hopefully we'll know more soon. Stay Tooned!

Funko Wants To Make Roger Rabbit POP Vinyl Figures

While anticipating the lineup for series 5 of the Disney POP Vinyls, people were cheering for Roger and Jessica to squeeze into the series. Unfortunately they did not make the cut - but they had been wanted by the company!

During Toy Fair 2013, Vinylmation Kingdom conducted an interview with Brian Mariotti, President of Funko, and spoke to him about some of the future hopes and plans for the series. Here's what was said:

"Another property that came up was Roger Rabbit!!! I almost fainted. Brian has been working to get the rights to produce Roger, Benny, Jessica, and the rest for a while now. With Vinylmation finally releasing Roger in Animation [series] 2, I mentioned that perhaps this could be sooner rather than later. Sounded like Brian will be looking into it again this upcoming year."

So someone out there IS on the side of our favorite toons - and trying to get them into a new toy line with an all new likeness. Stay Tooned Folks, and keep your fingers crossed!
