Flashback Friday - Wendy Gell Interview

Wendy Gell created the first ever Jessica Rabbit pins for Disney, offered through her own signature collection. Her sculpted pins were quite different from the flat cloisonné pins we know today, but she was the first to use crystals on Disney character pins – and the first to create a Jessica Rabbit series. She also pioneered the movement of putting characters in different costumes – something that is now very common with modern day pins. What was her experience like working at Disney? Which real-life Princess received a Jessica Rabbit pin? What was Disney’s opinion of the Jessica character? There was a new "reveal/conceal" pin series released in Disney Parks on Thursday, March 13 2014. The Disney Couples Mystery Collection features some of Disney's most beloved couples. Each pack comes with two pins. The revealed pin showing through the package is one of eight Disney royal couples. The remaining eight are hidden and packed at random, so you don't know which couple you will get. One couple is Jessica and Roger Rabbit. The pins are shaped like a large diamond ring. The diamond at the top is filled clear. There are two "diamond" jewels on either side. The gold band is the perimeter of the pin with the couple in the center. Flashback Friday - Jessica Rabbit Pressers

During the opening of Disney's MGM Studios in 1989, Roger Rabbit had a great presence in the park. There was also quite a lot of merchandise from Who Framed Roger Rabbit - which always focused on Roger himself. Jessica Rabbit items were fewer back then. One such product were Pressers. These were small, clear sheets of image transfers that you could rub onto paper, a book or smooth surface. Jessica had her very own sheet of Pressers with an array of poses. Take a look at these cool images! - A Jessica Rabbit Site: Jessica Rabbit Merchandise Review #37 - Pressers

Flashback Friday - Roger And Jessica Rabbit Pencil Sharpeners

There were few Jessica Rabbit collectibles I had not seen, and this pencil sharpener was one of them. This great Roger and Jessica Rabbit set was originally from Japan, and all these years later still looked fantastic when I found them. It's a bit of a different kind of collectible for Jessica, and while she might not be as voluptuous on this sharpener as she is in the film, it's still a fun item to add to the list of Jessica Rabbit merchandise. Pin Release - DSS Jessica Rabbit Awards Series

On Friday, February 28th 2014, the Disney Studio Store Hollywood released a Surprise Series of Jessica Rabbit pins. While these are being called the "Jessica Rabbit Oscars," I'm not sure that is the official name for the series. However, it is certainly inspired by the Oscars. Is Jessica up for all of these awards? Who knew she was quite this multi talented. There are four pins in the series - Best Original Song, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Costume Design. Each pin is bordered with a film strip, film wheel at the left corner, and a black border on the right with the category name. Each pin also features a dark pink glitter fill. For Best Original Song, Jessica is holding a microphone and singing out a tune. Best Director shows Jessica holding a clap board and wearing an old-style directors hat. Best Actress is a regular quarter shot of Jessica. Best Costume Design shows Jessica holding scissors, measuring tape and a pen sticking out of her hair. Each pin was a Limited Edition of 400 and sold for $14.95 each.
