Exclusive Jessica Rabbit Artist Interview - Gary Martin

As a big fan of the Roger Rabbit comics, I was very excited to get in touch with Gary Martin, a freelance comic book inker and writer whose career spans over twenty years. He’s worked for all the major companies, including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, and Disney - and on such titles as, Spider-man, Hulk, X-men, Batman, Star Wars, and Mickey Mouse. Gary is best known for his popular how-to books entitled, “The Art Of Comic Book Inking”, and his ink work with Steve Rude on the Moth and Nexus. Currently, Gary is writing an eight volume graphic novel series he created for Zondervan publishing called, “Son Of Samson”. Find out more about this talented artist, and why the Roger comic was cancelled.

ImNotBad.com:
Do you remember what inspired you to become an artist?

Gary Martin:
Comic books.

INB:
As a child, which Disney film did you like the most and why?

Gary:
Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Except for the dancing crocodiles, it captured my imagination.

Jessica Rabbit Merchandise Review #29 - 15th Anniversary Watch

Some merchandise reviews come pretty easily to me. Others I put off doing for way too long. I don't know why I have held off reviewing the Roger and Jessica Rabbit 15th Anniversary watch/statue - it's a really nice item all around. After putting it off for months it's about time I take a look at one of the few Roger Rabbit 15th Anniversary items to be released.

Jessica Rabbit Chocolate

Twitter user, Mousesteps, posted a photo of the Jessica Rabbit candy that was released earlier in the month called I'm not bad... I'm just DRAWN to chocolate. I'm not sure where it is available but it appears it is in Disney World from the other photos. There is a large image of Jessica Rabbit on the front with the title of the candy. It's a 4oz. box of dark chocolate min creams - naturally flavored of course.

Custom Jessica Rabbit Figures

There is a varying selection of Jessica Rabbit statues made available over the years, but there have not been very many dolls or action figures. The closest we got to that with Jessica is the Flexies figure from 1988 - and that was more of a fully bendable toy. Here is a wide photo assortment of Jessica Rabbit custom figures, dolls and statues I have collected over many years, from various websites. Check out some of the amazing work and ideas people have come up with for our favorite toon!

One of the first Jessica Rabbit shirts to come out during the new resurgence in her popularity was the Patty Cake Lounge Embroidered Button-Down Shirt. Years after this release, there was another similar shirt released - however this shirt has a lot more detail and work put into it. Even though it was something new for Jessica fans, this great shirt eventually found its way to the sale rack.
